No, Tums.. aka: Calcium Carbonate will not effect Butalbital, Apap, or Codeine (though I imagine your medication is Butalbital and Acetaminophen.)
Tums is a good source of Calcium supplementation,.. and will raise the PH of your stomach (it doesn’t block any specific enzymes … ) — Which is why some medications even some antacids can have contraindications with certain medicines that utilize X enzyme pathway.
Take them at the same time if you want to,.. it won’t make a bit of difference.
They shouldn’t. But you shouldn’t be going around with that headache either for you don’t have to anymore. You can get rid of it by getting to what is causing it in the first place and that’s the muscles in your neck. They get so tight that the message the brain gets from them is so intense that all it feels is pain, so we call it a headache, blaming the messenger rather than the sender. Those muscles go to the top of your head for it’s movements. When the muscles are tight up there they pull on other muscles to make the tension type feeling up there. Once the muscles in your neck are freed up all that will be gone. Here’s how to release those muscles to free them up:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
